Recycalusa is back and ready to recycle!
Just say NO to trash by choosing reusables over disposables. Reducin’ and reusin’ before recyclin’? Choose and reuse refillable water bottles/canteens* instead of single-use bottles; classic coolers instead of Styrofoam boxes; and sturdy cups, plates, and cutlery instead of disposable tableware. (*note: Wakarusa provides access to FREE water)
No ifs, ands or butts about it: littering includes EVERYTHING. Don’t forget an ashtray for your campsite; a good ol’ tin can will do the job. Smokin’ while walkin’? Just safely snuff your cigarette THEN toss into a trash can.
Take the Clean Concert Pledge at http://www.cleanconcert.org/ Leaving no trace STARTS WITH YOU!
Recycle, recycle, recycle! Hopefully you’ll notice a super easy color system for all 200 recycling barrel lids:
ALUMINUM cans in Red PLASTIC Cups and Bottles in Blue (and Glass too)
You’ll also be given 2 bags for your campsite:
BLUE for RECYCLING and BLACK for TRASH and FOOD WASTE. If you need more bags, just stop by any information booth or the Recycalusa Booth.
When your recycling and trash bags are full, securely tie your bags and place at the nearest black-top road for daily curbside service.
Stop by the Recycalusa Booth. For every full bag of campsite recycling you bring to the booth, you will earn a FREE prize such as band merchandise or a Recycalusa t-shirt. Help our volunteers sort your campsite recycling, and you’ll receive a FREE raffle ticket for a grand prize of tickets to Wakarusa 2011!
Clean up your campsite. Campin’ and conservin’? Love your Mother Nature and leave your campsite cleaner than you found it. Leaving no trace ENDS WITH YOU!
Leave your glass at home. It’s heavy, it breaks, and it’s a general pain in our recycling rears. Plus, the money from recycling aluminum cans benefits local not-for-profits! Drinkin’ but shudderin’ at the thought of aluminum encased beverages? Simply rinse the glass bottles and take them home with you, and this is especially handy if you’re from a bottle law $tate.
