The Wakarusa Forum is back up and rolling. Thanks to all for your patience as we worked out the technical issues.
We're very sorry to report that several artists were unable to perform at the festival Sunday following a severe thunderstorm that rolled through the area. Two festival stages were unable to continue due to standing water issues and the physical inability to get artists to those stages. Our main stage performances of the Mickey Hart Band and Zappa Play Zappa were canceled because of a roof failure at that stage. It was simply not safe nor prudent to continue under the circumstances. We apologize to everyone for this unfortunate event. We are very happy to announce that Zappa Plays Zappa has agreed to perform at Wakarusa 2009. Although we are truly sorry for the cancellations, it must be pointed out that the festival had no control over the storms nor the other events that lead to artist cancellations. On a much brighter note - the staff and crew rallied like the stars they are after the storms and the show did go on at the Revival tent. David Grisman, Avett Brothers and Split Lip Rayfield gave spectacular performances and closed out the festival to a very hardy and robust crowd.
Join iClips from June 6-8, for our broadcast of Wakarusa Music Festival live from Lawrence, Kansas! Some of the artists performing at this year's Wakarusa include The Flaming Lips, STS9, Leftover Salmon, Lotus, Tea Leaf Green, and many, many more. Visit iclips.net for more info.

The Wakarusa Music Festival and Conscious Alliance are proud to announce our 4th Annual Food Drive to benefit the Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen of Lawrence, KS. Last year’s drive brought in over 2,000 pounds of food donations. This year with your help, we hope to pull in at least 5,000 pounds! All patrons that donate 10 non-perishable food items will receive a free, limited–edition poster by famed rock artist, Gary Houston (www.VodooCatbox.com)! All food donations will be collected at the Conscious Alliance “Art That Feeds” Gallery, which will be depicted on the Wakarusa Festival guide map. The Conscious Alliance always encourages food donations to be low-sodium and health oriented products. “Organic” food donations are especially encouraged. RAMEN NOODLES will NOT be accepted for the free poster. Thank you for your continued support in feeding the hungry everywhere the music plays! For more information on how you can be involved, visit us at: www.ConsciousAlliance.org www.myspace.com/consciousalliance
This Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 7pm the ACLU will be hosting a forum entitled "Wakarusa '07: Privacy Rights in Public Places" at the Lawrence Public Library. Our panel will address personal privacy issues as well as search and seizure laws, probable cause and other personal rights and public safety concerns. Our hope is to make this year’s festival a success not only from the entertainment standpoint that it has been in the past, but a success in the protection of civil liberties while maintaining high standards of security and decorum. The forum is free and open to the public. There will be a drawing for a pass to the festival. Our panelist will be: Charles Branson, Douglas County District Attorney; Lt. Kari Wempe, Policy/Public Information Officer; Douglas County Sheriff’s Department Laura Green, Director of the Drug Policy Forum of Kansas and Coordinator of the Help Desk for the Wakarusa Music Festival; and Skip Griffey, Attorney-at-Law.
