Samantha Stollenwerck
Samantha Stollenwerck, a California native, has coined the phrase “Cali Soul,” defining her sound as a unique blend of soulful pop rock. Samantha picked up the guitar on the beaches of San Diego in high school, influenced by the surf punk scene that dominated the North County. Her ability to improvise on stage allows her to transcend boundaries of her pop-sounding songs and enter the realm of jam. “I can’t resist a good jam. I never studied music which explains my rough around the edges-ness and raw delivery but I like it that way- it keeps me honest.” Through her music, Samantha has been able to support grassroots cultural and political organizations and she has repeatedly lent her time and her voice to many different causes. In between finishing her first full-length record, Samantha and her band The Ritual have toured up and down the California coast, hit the streets of New York City, rode the funk of New Orleans and forged her way through the Rockies of Colorado all the while playing the San Francisco music scene and developing a grass roots fan base. |
